We’re delighted to welcome The University of Queensland (UQ) as an Official Partner of The Sport Strategy Summit.
Recently ranked #1 in Australia and #2 in the world for Sport-Related Subjects in the 2026 QS World University Ranking and home of the Queensland Centre for Olympic and Paralympic Studies (QCOPS), UQ is one of Australia’s leading research and education institutions. It is playing an important role in shaping the future of sport, major events and Olympic and Paralympic Games legacy planning. initiatives such as the Office of the 2032 Games.
As organisations increasingly look to unlock the commercial power of sport, collaboration between industry, academia and government will be critical to ensuring Australia builds the expertise, research and capability required to maximise the opportunities leading into Brisbane 2032.
Professor Bruce Abernethy AM, Executive Director of the Office of 2032 Games Engagement at UQ said the partnership reflects the university’s deep commitment to supporting the continued growth and development of the sport sector.
“Sport intersects with business, community, policy and innovation in powerful ways. The Sport Strategy Summit provides an important forum for leaders to explore how sport can drive economic and social impact, and we’re pleased to support a thought leadership event of this type.”
Sport Strategy Summit Founder Jason Greenhalgh said UQ’s involvement strengthens the Summit’s focus on bringing together industry, research and strategic thinking.
“Sport is no longer just about performance on the field. It now intersects with business strategy, technology, research and major events. The work being undertaken by UQ through the Office of the 2032 Games Engagement and QCOPS is helping shape important conversations both about nature of sport in the future and the opportunities that exist in the lead-up to Brisbane 2032.”
The Sport Strategy Summit will take place at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on Thursday 30 July 2026, bringing together leaders from business, sport, government and events to explore how organisations can harness the power of sport for business growth.
The Sport Strategy Summit will feature leading voices from across sport, business and events, with sessions exploring topics including sponsorship strategy, fan engagement, investment in sport, and the growing role of innovation, research and policy in shaping the future of sport.
The event is expected to attract senior executives, marketers, investors and sporting leaders from across Australia.
